Newark Advertiser poll asks if a Balderton Parish Council decision to end YMCA Newark and Sherwood plans to hold water sports on Balderton Lake is correct
This week Balderton Parish Council made the decision to terminate a contract which would have allowed YMCA Newark and Sherwood hold water sports on Balderton Lake, bringing to an end years on planning and campaigning.
Plans were originally approved by the council in 2022, however, many of the councillors responsible for that decision were replaced in May’s local elections by many who wished to stop the plans from taking place.
A proposal was tabled and approved by the council to terminate the contract, with the lake cited as being an inappropriate location for water sports and the protection of wildlife considered a priority.
Now that the plans have been revoked, the YMCA have expressed disappointment that they will not come to fruition and that the decision will deprive young people of experiences.
But what do you think, is this the best decision for Balderton Lake?

The results of the poll will be published in the next edition of the Newark Advertiser.
