POLL: Would you like the opportunity to work from home post-lockdown?
The government announced it had kickstarted the return to workplaces in Friday's briefing.
MP Boris Johnson announced employers would be able to invite employees back providing premises are safe and following the correct safety measures.
Mr Johnson said: "Instead of government telling people to work from home, we’re going to give employers more discretion and ask them to make decisions about how their staff can work safely."
The advice was challenged by Mr Patrick Vallance, the government's chief scientific adviser, who argued working from home had not been detrimental to productivity and remained a perfectly good option.
The advice for return to workplaces will be updated on August 1.
