Newark and Sherwood District Council holding public consultation for review into polling districts and polling places
Residents are being asked to share their views during a consultation period on polling districts and polling places.
Newark and Sherwood District Council is currently undertaking the review to see if anything needs changing ahead of the next election.
The council is responsible for deciding the boundaries of polling districts and must therefore seek to ensure that all electors in the area have reasonable facilities for voting and ensure that polling places within these districts are accessible.
The consultation period is running until February 16 and during this time the council welcomes views and comments from the public.
Feedback could focus on anything from where polling places are located, to the ease of getting into them for those with disabilities and any other relevant information.
The results of the consultation will be presented in a report to the council’s general purposes committee, before a final scheme goes before the full council for decision on March 7.
All representations should be made by email to: voting@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk or by post to: Electoral Services, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Castle House Great North Road, Newark, NG24 1BY.
More information about the consultation can be found on the district council’s website.
The next election due to take place will be the UK General Election at some point from December 2024 to January 2025..
