Advertiser reader’s letter: Poor start for town retail

This year is starting off badly for retail in the Newark area.

Farm Foods is closing, Argos could be moving out of the town centre, Boots has been rumoured to be closing in town centre for a while, Poundland are closing stores across the country and it looks like WHSmiths will be too.

I remember when we had eight or nine newsagents in the town centre, when Smiths go there will be one.

No doubt print media is dying, I wonder how many more people might read this letter online than in print? — Paul Duddles, Balderton.
