White Post Farm visitor attraction closed as staff prioritise animals during extreme heatwave
Animals at a popular family farmyard attraction are enjoying frozen treats and extra attention to help them through the extreme heatwave.
With temperatures forecast to reach 40 degrees, staff at White Post Farm are working hard to keep the farm's animals cool.
The farmyard is closed to visitors today, as staff focus on the variety of animals in their care, giving them their full attention to ensure they are safe and comfortable in the heat.
Frozen and fresh treats and cool showers are on the menu for many of the farm's residents — including donkeys, sheep and even alpacas.
Trenches have been dug and filled with water and animals have been moved to shaded areas.
The farm plans to re-open tomorrow (Wednesday, July 20) when the weather is expected to be cooler.
