The organist will be Michael D’Avanzo, organ scholar at Southwell Minster.

Rehearsals will then begin on January 5 for a series of concerts to celebrate the 50th jubilee of Bingham and District Choral Society.

The first of these will be a performance of The Messiah with Newark Choral Society on April 30.

Judy Unell, from the choral society, said: “If you would like to sing with us to help us celebrate, we offer a warm welcome and a three-week trial period for new singers — no audition.”

Rehearsals are on Wednes-days, 7.15pm to 9.20pm at Carnarvon Primary School, Nursery Road, Bingham.
