Wetherpoons Sir John Arderne in Market Place, Newark, to close

A pub chain is to close its bar in the centre of Newark, staff have been told.

A member of staff at the Sir John Arderne ­— part of the Wetherspoons chain ­— confirmed that the pub will shut.

The staff at the pub, near the Market Place, were given the news today.

They have not been given an official date for the closure.

Wetherspoons has been approached for comment.
