Posts prove a puzzle

Mystery sign posts have appeared in the centre of a village — and nobody knows who put them there.

Residents spotted the four metal posts at the the junction of The Green and Main Road, Radcliffe, last week.

Despite investigations by Nottinghamshire County Council through its Highways department, no one has claimed responsibility for putting up the posts and it is not known why they are there.

Radcliffe Parish Council’s clerk, Mr Mike Elliott, was contacted by a member of the highways department to see if he could shed light on the mystery.

Mr Elliott said: “It is a total mystery."

The county council has now put up a notice on the posts asking for information as to what the posts will by used for.
