VIDEO: Has ghost activity been captured on video in Southwell?

A CHARLES I enthusiast claims to have captured footage of things going bump in the night at a Southwell hotel.

Daniel Williams, a historian from Coventry, is visiting the Bramley Apple Festival this weekend, and recalls an incident when he visited Southwell last year while on a tour of the country taking in all the hot-spots where the doomed 17th century Stuart monarch has stayed.

He stopped off at the Saracens Head Hotel as King Charles I is thought to have spent his last night of freedom in the hotel before his capture.

After hearing all about the supposed paranormal activity in the 14th century hotel, including the ghost of a maid who is known to shake beds while the occupant is asleep, he set off for Southwell - and it wasn't long before spooky goings-on began to happen in his room.

"I decided to brave it myself and stay overnight by myself," he said, "My mate dropped me off and while I was unpacking my things, the cold tap turned on full blast by itself in the bathroom.

"That was just the start of it. I'm a very rational person with things like this and I won't believe it until I've seen it myself.

"There's just no explanation for the tap turning on by itself."

Daniel then connected his phone to a tripod and set it up in the corner of the room to record from 2am until around 6am.

When he watched the footage back, he was stunned to hear various knocking sounds coming from the table the phone was mounted on, and then later in the night, it's claimed you can hear a male voice whisper the word 'Sarah'.

Then at around 5am, the footage shows the bottom of the bed sink and then rise, as though someone had sat on the end of the bed, and then you can see the bottom of the bed shaking violently, which causes Daniel to stir.

Is this genuine paranormal activity captured on Daniel's phone, or are there simple explanations for these occurences? You decide.
