North Hykeham man raises £5,000 for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance with 39-mile walk

A keen power walker who set out to walk to three castles in three counties not only achieved his aim, but did it in far less time than he thought.

Kevin Hempsall walked from Lincoln Castle to Newark Castle and then Belvoir Castle on Sunday, raising at least £5,000 for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

He took eight hours and 47 minutes to complete the 39-mile walk, starting from his home in North Hykeham.

He knocked well over an hour off his estimated time.

A walker travelling at an average speed would take almost 13 hours to do the same journey.

Kevin, who works at Newark Copper Cylinder Ltd, set off at 5am.

Sunday’s walk raised more than Kevin’s three previous charity fundraising walks combined together.
