Reader's letter: Praise for Paddy

LEARN MOREReports of the praise by the Home Secretary for the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner on appointing new recruits are misleading.
Caroline Henry benefited from the plans already put in place by former Commissioner Paddy Tipping in collaboration with the excellent Chief Constable Craig Guildford.
Thanks to Paddy’s efforts over nine years, the force was already well ahead on recruitment targets and had more officers than most UK police forces at the time of the 2021 election.
Perhaps the Home Secretary should look instead at Ms Henry’s speeding offences during and after the election campaign and wonder why it has taken a whole year to come to court. — C. WRIGHT, Ravenshead
