A large excavator was brought in to clear two large trees that had been brought down by Storm Eunice and was blocking the road.

Nottinghamshire Police have praised the local business that supplied the excavator and local residents who worked to clear the damage in the wake of Friday's storm.

A post on the Sherwood Police (Bilsthorpe, Caunton, Lowdham, Southwell and villages) said: "Storm Eunice passes leaving a trail of damage in its wake.

"However Response and Neighbourhood officers along with the assistance of a passing large excavator from a local business and local residents work together to clear the road of two substantial trees blown over.

"It’s not everyday Nottinghamshire Police use such equipment to help keep the roads open but where there’s a will there’s a way."
