Newark Advertiser reader letters: Previous term showed President Trump out of his depth




I’m glad Geoffrey Booking (News Views, November 14) will take his hat off to Donald Trump’s victory in the USA election, because I certainly will not.

His first term in office demonstrated how utterly out of his depth he was as President.

His handling of the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the highest death rate per 1,000 people in the western world. He suggested that injecting disinfectant or shining a bright light would cure an infected person.

Trump now plans to nominate Robert Kennedy Jr to lead the Health and Human Services Department.

With a potential Mpox epidemic on the horizon, does America really want a self-proclaimed vaccine sceptic in charge of America’s response?

Trump’s nominations for senior posts in defence, justice, and energy are equally controversial and dangerous not only for America but for the entire world.

I didn’t see “the best political campaign of all time”. I saw a rambling old man incapable of coherent speech. “In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.” (This was a totally unfounded claim).

Then there was the 40 minutes of dancing?? Is this really a man fit to lead the most powerful country in the world?
