Children from Highfields School in Newark shared their harvest festival goodies with old folk in a sheltered housing scheme.

The children presented baskets of goodies to each almshouse property of the St Leonard's Hospital Trust scheme off London Road, Newark.

Teaching assistant Elizabeth Cox said the children were very excited to meet the residents and share their gifts.

As well as St Leonard's, Newark Women's Aid was also a beneficiary.

It is the third year Highfields have presented harvest festival goodies at the almshouses.

St Leonard's warden Tracey Joy said the residents appreciated the gesture and likes meeting the children.

She said some of them rarely got to meet children now.
