Prime Minister questioned
The Prime Minister took a break from the Libyan crisis to be quizzed by pupils from the Minster School, Southwell.
Evie Hoggard, 14, and Henry Harmer, 13, took part in a press conference with Mr David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.
They were among 30 pupils from across the country to take part in the project, organised by the BBC as part of its News School Report initiative.
The press conference will be screened today on East Midlands Today along with reports from the Minster School, which was chosen to represent the region.
Before meeting the Prime Minister, Evie and Henry attended a workshop on interview technique and interviewed BBC Five Live’s political correspondent John Pienaar.
Evie said meeting David Cameron was an amazing experience.
She said: “He was really nice, quite enthusiastic and very friendly.”
Henry said: “I am very pleased that I went because I thought it would be a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity and it was incredible to see him.”
Evie and Henry did not ask their question about police response times to Mr Cameron because the press conference was shorter than expected.
Evie said: “We were going to ask him how he was going to make sure we were safe when we were walking to and from school.
“It is important to know that if something happens and we need to ring the police that they will be there.”
Reports from pupils on subjects including teenage body image and the school’s eco-friendly credentials have been prepared for East Midlands Today.
