Sale of former Wetherspoon pub, The Sir John Arderne, in Newark Market Place postponed due to ‘lack of interest’ for auction lot with SDL Property Auctions

The sale of a former Wetherspoon’s pub has been postponed due to a lack of interest.

The Sir John Arderne, in Newark Market Place, was due to be auctioned off this morning through SDL Property Auctions, alongside 240 other properties and plots of land.

However, the lot was removed and postponed after no bidders registered their interest, an auction house representative confirmed.

Wetherspoon’s pulled out of Newark in August 2023, leaving the Grade II listed building vacant and boarded up for over a year now.

It is expected that the town centre property will be entered into next month’s auction on October 23, allowing more time to gather interest.
