Staff and students gave up their favourite things to raise money for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.

More than £200 has been raised at the Dukeries College, Ollerton, for the organisation Disasters Working Together.

Many at the school gave up treats for a day, like chocolate, and donated the money to the cause.

Sophie Robinson (17) helped to organise the event.

She said: “We really just wanted to help because they have got nothing. They have lost their homes and their family.

“It made me realise what we have here and what we take for granted.”

A school assembly all about the disaster was also given.
