Newark: Lovers Lane Primary School students win maths challenge




Four pupils won a maths competition, beating three other local schools.

Taylor, Justas, Nina and Nikita, from Lovers’ Lane Primary School, Newark, beat teams from Farndon St Peter’s, Barnby Road and John Hunt schools in the contest held at Magnus Church of England Academy.

Jenny Hodgkinson, Lover’s Lane head, said: “We are delighted. It’s massive for the children. They are so proud ­— it’s the first time we have won it.

“The trophy will take pride of place in our school foyer for all visitors to see. We are extremely proud of the children for all their enthusiasm and enjoyment of maths, as well as their rising academic achievement.”

The competition involved the year five children completing a series of team challenges.

Leanne Phillips, primary and community liason officer at Magnus, said: “Well done Lovers’ Lane. You absolutely smashed it. What a team and what an incredible bunch of students. They did their school proud.”
