Lincolnshire radio presenter John Marshall joins cast of Aladdin pantomime at New Theatre Royal Lincoln for one day only
A radio presenter is to join a panto cast for one day only — alongside an Olympian and a West End star.
One of Lincolnshire’s most popular radio presenters with almost 30 years of broadcasting under his belt, John Marshall, is set to join the cast of New Theatre Royal Lincoln’s Christmas pantomime, Aladdin, on Saturday, December 9.
Strictly Come Dancing legend, and the Fairy Godfather from last year’s Christmas pantomime, Ian Waite, had been cast as Sultan Cha-Cha-Cha but, due to prior commitments, is unable to perform on December 9.
The theatre went on the search for a replacement and is thrilled to welcome radio star John Marshall to the cast.
John will be swapping the studio for the stage as he performs the role of Sultan Cha-Cha-Cha across three performances.
Ahead of his appearance, John said: “When Lincoln’s longest running, traditional Christmas pantomime at the historic New Theatre Royal told me they needed a chubby man who can’t sing, dance or act, to sing, dance and act… I knew it was the job for me. Three performances, one day only, a cast of brilliant professionals and me, trying his best. See you there.”
He will perform alongside Olympic Gymnast, Strictly Come Dancing winner and The Masked Dancer champion Louis Smith MBE in the role of Abanazar, and star of West End productions including Disney’s The Lion King, The Blues Brothers, and Thriller Live, Roger Wright as the Genie of the Lamp.
Tickets are on sale now at www.newtheatreroyallincoln.co.uk or via the Box Office on 01522 519999.
The genie-tastic adventure is on stage from Tuesday, December 5, to Sunday, January 7.
