Rambling beyond lockdown
It has been great to see so many people enjoying walking for well-being during the coronavirus lockdown.
I wonder if they realise how much the Ramblers organisation, Britain’s walking charity, has helped to ensure this is possible through helping maintain the Rights Of Way network and promoting the rights of walkers over many years.
I would encourage everyone keen to continue walking to join the organisation.
For a modest yearly subscription, a wealth of information about walks and walking, including walk routes throughout the country and many other benefits are available.
Not only that, but the support enables Ramblers to fight to keep and develop the footpaths so important to our towns and countryside.
Wherever you go in the country you can find a local walking group who will make you welcome.
Our local group is Newark Ramblers and we are looking forward to starting up small group walks in August, following the lifting of some of the lockdown restrictions.
Anyone interested in joining Ramblers is welcome to try these out before committing themselves.
Information is available through our local website https://www.newarkramblers.org.uk/ and the national website https://www.ramblers.org.uk/ — JOYCE PEDERSEN, Newark Ramblers chairman.
