A wood in a village near Newark will feature in Sunday’s edition of BBC Countryfile.

A team from the programme visited Hill Holt Wood, Norton Disney, on a night-time hunt for one of Britain’s rarest bats, the barbastelle, which have taken up residence there.

Conservationists said to see the bats this far north in England had caused a stir.

The UK has 18 species of bat with Hill Holt Wood home to 11.
