Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic Show comes to Newark Showground on January 6 and January 7, with special appearance from two John Player Special Norton RCW588 racing machines from National Motorcycle Museum
Kick-start the new year with the roar of some rare bikes at the Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic Show.
The show, which comes to Newark Showground this weekend, on January 6 and 7, will bring together hundreds of motorbikes and scooters, with something for everybody who loves two wheels — from vintage, veteran and classic through to modern, track race and even off-road.
Making a special appearance this year are the historic John Player Special Norton RCW588 racing machines, on loan from the National Motorcycle Museum.
Visitors will be able to listen to the Wankel engines of these bikes in the live start-up area, which helped to propel the Nortons to success, setting several speed records and achieving superbike victories during the late 80s and early 90s.
Accompanying the bikes are two of the men that once worked closely with them, former Norton racer Trevor Nation, alongside rotary engineer and Norton team manager Brian Crighton, who will also be showing off his latest creation, the all-new rotary CR700W.
Show-goers can also explore the many bikes and scooters on display, specialist trade stands, autojumble stalls, live firing-up sessions, as well as the dedicated Scooter World area.
Exhibitions manager, Nick Mowbray, said, “The team and I are absolutely delighted to have the John Player Special Norton RCW588 racing machines on show for the weekend.
“A big thanks to the National Motorcycle Museum for giving us the chance to see them in action once again.”
The Winter Classic show is the first event of the year on the biking calendar and promises a perfect start to 2024.
Tickets are available to buy in advance online at newarkclassicbikeshow.com or on the gate on the day.
Visitors can enter the show from 9am both days, with closing times at 5pm on Saturday, and 4pm on Sunday.
