Environmental Health investigate complaint of a rat gnawing food in The Little Teahouse in Newark Market Place
Environmental health officers have been unable to gain entry into a teahouse where a rat has been pictured gnawing at food.
The Little Teahouse in Newark Market Place has been closed for several days.
Roger Jackson, chairman of leisure and environment at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Our Environmental Health officers have not ordered the closure of the Little Teahouse café but are currently investigating the unit after a complaint we received last week.
“Unfortunately, the store is closed and our officers have not been able to enter the premises to do a full investigation.
“When the store reopens again we will look into this and make judgement from our findings.
“We are always willing to work with businesses to support them to get to the required health standard.”
The Little Teahouse was still shut today (Tuesday).
