Read the code

By NewarkAdvertiser Reporter

In reply to Mr T. Morriss (No Courtesy, News Views, May 24) I would strongly suggest that he reads the Highway Code, as he seems to wrongly think that he has priority when joining a major road.

He has obviously not noticed the broken white line across the junction, which denotes that the minor road (in this case, the slip road) must give priority to the major road.

As the driver of a large vehicle with many thousands of miles of accident-free driving, I would point out that vehicles travelling at speed do not take kindly to sudden changes in direction. Well-known laws of physics apply here.

Mr Morriss should look hard at his driving technique as if he continues as he is, he is certain to cause a serious accident with all the attendant consequences. — P. SCOTT, Collingham (Full address supplied)
