Readers Letters: A man’s personal experience at Newark Hospital

Like many others waiting for surgery I experienced cancellations throughout 2022 and 2023 however when I was given a date for my hip replacement this is what I experienced at Newark Hospital.

Every visit for my pre-op procedures was a pleasure.

I was impressed with the welcome I was given and the smiles I received from volunteers and staff alike and the courteous and efficient way I was dealt with.

My procedure took place at the end of October with an overnight stay in the Minster ward. What dedicated people, nurses, doctors, theatre, physio and catering staff not forgetting of course my consultant.

I thank all of you for helping to give me my pain free freedom back.

All this took place in the cleanest hospital I have ever been in, every facility I used was spotless. Having shared my experience with friends and acquaintances I find I’m not alone many have had similar experiences.

So thank you to those who campaigned to keep this Treasure in our Midst open and those who had the fore-site to develop it into a fine example of an NHS Hospital. – M. Martin, Southwell
