I may be mistaken, but it seems Newark and Sherwood District Council is stripping Newark of its green spaces and playing fields.

Plans for a controversial 87-home development were pushed through, on the third attempt, in April 2020. It required the planning committee chairman to decide the fate of the former Bowbridge Road green space using his casting vote, meaning the disappearance of another Newark green space.

Last year, we watched the further loss of several football pitches, at the Flowserve Sports Ground and Newark FC are now having to travel 24 miles for their home games, played in Nottingham because there is nowhere else suitable for them to play in the town.
