Newark reader's letter: So helpful

More news, no ads

I feel compelled to write in support of Well Pharmacy, given the extremely critical nature of your article on the front page (Ten-hour Round Trip For Mum’s Medication, January 6).

We are not regular customers, but when we ended up there due to the internet going down at Boots on Northgate at 5.45m on a Friday afternoon and we needed an emergency prescription, they could not have been more helpful.

They physically went next door to the GP surgery to get the required repeat emergency prescription and then dispensed this, with advice, even though it was past their closing time by this stage.

Their service was absolutely amazing and we were so grateful to them.

Whilst I can sympathise with him, your article reports on one man having to undertake multiple ten-hour trips personally to get vital medication from this particular pharmacy who apologised for his difficulties in getting through. Surely this warrants more investigation and balance than just reporting his extremely critical comments? — Alison Blackhurst, via email.
