Newark: Parkgate Academy, Ollerton, receives donation of children's books by councillors




Primary school children have a new selection of books to read from after a donation from councillors.

Ollerton-based councillors John Pearson and Allison Malcolm have donated an array of children’s books to Parkgate Academy.

The donation followed an expansion of classes at the school due to a rising numbers of pupils.

Miss Phoebe Eyre, head of English, said: “We are delighted to have received such a superlative selection of children’s books so generously donated by Allison Malcolm and John Pearson.

“These will boost the class bookshelves and greatly benefit our drive to promote reading for pleasure.”

Michael Morpurgo, Enid Blighton, Judith Kerr, David Walliams, Dick King-Smith and Julia Donaldson were among the authors of the donated books.
