Residents snap back into action
A residents’ association has been given a new lease of life and come up with a list of issues it wants to tackle.
One of the ideas that Fernwood District Residents’ Association is considering is having a neighbourhood/community warden who could work part-time and become a liaison officer between the parish council, the association, Neighbourhood Watch and police.
Other issues include a lack of parking and irresponsible parking, speeding and security problems.
The association also wants to work with the parish council to ensure that issues such as the provision of a school, adequate public transport, fair local taxes and planning are kept to the forefront.
The chairman is Mr Jim Gould, one of the association’s founder members.
He said: “Fernwood is not a bad place to live and we know we are not going to eradicate every issue, but we want to assist and work with the parish council,” he said.
The secretary of the group is Mr Mike Volans and the treasurer is Mr Alex Cotgreave. There is a committee of about 15 residents.
Mr Gould said they would be in a position to hold their first open residents’ meeting in June or July and would be happy if there were people willing to take up other posts.
