Response fears

Given the proposal to move Newark Police Station to Castle House, will this not adversely reflect on police response times?

When the barriers are down at Castle Station the traffic both around the town and bypass can often be blocked by stationary vehicles; and it is also known that from time to time the barriers fail.

Problems on the A1 and A46 can also cause town congestion when there are road traffic collisions.

Presumably that is why both the ambulance station and the fire station are located south of the Nottingham-Lincoln railway line.

I appreciate that the current police station is under-used but surely it could have been adapted to provide accommodation for the probation service, victim support, and other co-related organisations serving the community.

The minuses surely outweigh the pluses of selling off the police station, which will surely not recoup its initial cost. — A. WADDINGTON, The Meerings, Sutton-on-Trent .
