Newark MP Robert Jenrick pleased 97% Nottinghamshire school reported being fully open
Newark MP Robert Jenrick says he was pleased over 97% of schools in Nottinghamshire have reported being fully open, compared to national average of 95%.
“At the end of August I wrote to all headteachers in my constituency to thank them, their staff and governors for all the hard work they have undertaken over the recent months and to offer assistance if they have encountered difficulties putting guidance into practice,” said the Newark MP.
“I was therefore pleased to see over 97% of schools in Nottinghamshire have reported being fully open, compared to national average of 95% and 88% of pupils on roll were attending compared to 87% nationally.
“It is vitally important all children return to school. Despite the best efforts of teachers and parents to provide high quality remote learning, this is no substitute for face-to-face teaching.
“The period of partial school closures will inevitably have led to many children falling behind and so, for our children’s welfare, their health and for their future, I appeal to parents to send their children back.
“I will be visiting some local schools over the coming weeks at their invitation.”
