An alternative rock band formed by Minster School pupils will perform in Southwell on Sunday.

The Wicked End is singer Bradley Dear (14) of Halam Road, Southwell; lead guitarist Will Oldham (13) of Nottingham Road, Southwell; drummer Tristan Hill (14) of Bleasby, rhythm guitarist Callum Benson (14) of Church Lane, Morton; and bass guitarist Elliot Checkley (13) of Wands Close, Southwell.

The group recorded their self-penned songs — Mistake, Watch Me Fall and Breath — at a Nottingham recording studio run by Mr Tony Foster.

They rehearse for around 12 hours a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, at the home of Mr and Mrs Tim Hill, Tristan Hill’s parents.

That is also where they write their songs, including the different instrumental parts.

The band formed under a different name in 2006 and there have since been a few changes in the line-up.

Their performance on Sunday at the Admiral Rodney, from 4pm-6pm, will be their first as the current line-up.

Will, Callum and Tristan have been in the band from the start.

They use their own instruments to play in the band and have bought a PA system between them.

Singer Bradley, who joined last year, said: “It is just good fun and brings friends closer together.

“I have always been into music and always wanted to be in a band.”

Lead guitarist Will said being in a band like The Wicked End was really good experience for them.

Drummer Tristan said it was great they had recorded their own songs and he was now looking forward to their performances.

The band will take part in a battle of the bands competition in Mansfield this year, where the top prize is £1,000.

Callum said: “It’s not so much the practising I enjoy, just the playing.”

He said he was really looking forward to taking part in battle of the bands.

Tristan’s mother, Mrs Dawn Hill, said: “I think it is great. They do it all themselves and the parents support them as much as they can.”

The band will be joined on the bill on Sunday by a band from Calverton.

Tickets for the performance are available on the door.
