Members of two running clubs took on a different sport to raise money for Little Liam’s Trust.

Steve White and Steve Padgett organised a football match between Notfast and Newark Striders, which was played at Claypole.

The game finished 1-0 with the winning goal for Newark Striders scored by Simon Palmer.

The player of the match was Becky Lax.

The trust has been set up to pay for treatments and memorable experiences for five-year-old Liam Andrew, of Beacon Heights, Newark. The aim is to raise £300,000.

Liam has a rare brain tumour, which is aggressive and difficult to treat.

The fundraising continues tomorrow with a three-day music festival at the Tawny Owl, Fernwood. It will feature real ales, ciders and wine, along with 18 hours of live music.

All money from the £5 entry wristbands will go towards the appeal.
