LEARN MORERegarding the article Doctor Critical Of Area’s Ailing Roads (Advertiser, November 18) and the points raised by Dr Emery. I agree with him and would like to add to the discussion.
To begin, bear in mind that vehicles have been made longer and wider so pinch points at pedestrian refuges, crossings, traffic calming islands, etc, leave little or no room for car and cyclist to go through together safely.
Cyclists clearly appreciate the dangers here and when available may take a footpath route. This leads to cycle routes on paths.
