Newark Round Table's Santa’s sleigh is on its way, bringing cheer to children
Children who look forward to seeing Santa touring the streets in and around Newark in his sleigh every Christmas will not be disappointed this year, despite coronavirus restrictions.
The annual highlight, organised by Newark Round Table, has changed a little, but will still be supporting charities and other good causes in the area.
Club chairman Steve Hee- ley said: “The annual tour of Newark made by Santa and his elves has been a tradition now for almost 50 years.
“While it has to be a little different this year, the flashing lights and Christmas music of the Round Table sleigh will soon be visiting the streets of Newark.”
The sleigh will begin touring on Monday and continue until Saturday, December 19.
Steve said: “Santa does ask that people stay within their property boundary, as he makes his way slowly around the streets.
“When in the market square, keep a safe distance.”
People are encouraged to wave and cheer loudly at Santa as he passes by.
There will not be any door-to-door collection for donations this year.
Instead, anyone wishing to donate to the Round Table charity fund can do so through its donation page on Facebook or in person at the sleigh’s final location, Newark Market Place, on December 19.
The sleigh will be out and about on the following dates and locations:
December 7: East side of London Road;
December 8: West side of London Road;
December 9: Balderton East;
December 10: Balderton West;
December 11: Farndon;
December 14: Beacon Hill/Coddington;
December 15: Winthorpe Road;
December 16: Sutton-on-Trent;
