Nottinghamshire Young Farmers’ Clubs’ Santa’s tractor run returns to streets of Southwell, Lowdham, and surrounding villages
An annual countryside festive tradition is set to return this weekend.
The Nottinghamshire Young Farmers’ Clubs’ Santa’s Tractor Run will roll through villages and towns this Saturday (December 7).
The parade of tractors will be ready to spread some Christmas cheer with their festive decorations, and with Santa in tow.
Lauren Clark, county development officer, said: “The event is a highlight in the YFC calendar, and it’s one that everyone enjoys, whether you’re part of the team managing the event, the bucket collectors, the tractor drivers or member of the public who feel the utter joy of seeing the decorated tractors, and of course Santa.
“This is an event that spans generations and has become a family tradition”
Starting from 5pm, it will call at Morton, Fiskerton, Rolleston, Staythorpe, Averham, Upton, Southwell, Halam, Edingley, Farnsfield, Oxton, Calverton, Woodborough, Epperstone, Lowdham, Hoveringham, Thurgarton, and Bleasby.
This year, 80 tractors are to take part in the parade, mostly modern John Deere’s, Fastracs, Claas, Valtra’s and Fendt’s.
Those taking part have the chance to win a prize for the best decorated, or for the best fleet which is four or more tractors from the same business.
The event, now in its fifth year, first began during the covid-19 pandemic, when the YFC were unable to hold their usual fundraisers, but were able to host the tractor run as a safe way to share some Christmas magic in its rural communities, and is now a highly-anticipated event for many.
