Road works will be carried out on Station Road in Eagle Hall, one kilometre north of Swinderby Station, between Swinderby Station and Eagle Hall for over three weeks

Road works will be in place for over three weeks to stop an under-road culvert from collapsing.

The works will be carried out on Station Road in Eagle Hall, one kilometre north of Swinderby Station, between Swinderby Station and Eagle Hall.

A full diversion will be in place starting on Tuesday, January 2 it is meant to last until Friday, January 26, however, it is subject to suitable weather.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways said: "This is a case of works happening to prevent the possibility of an ageing, existing brick culvert collapsing underneath a road.

“Our programme of work will see the culvert fully removed and replaced with a specialist pipe encased in concrete.”

The road around the culvert will be excavated to its full width and the project will also include measures by Anglian Water to divert the fragile water main which is located next to where the works are going to happen, otherwise, it will be damaged in the process.

Mr Davies added: “There is no way to do these essential works without closing the road and putting a temporary diversion in place. We will do everything that we can to carry out the scheduled programme as quickly as we can, and I’d like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we get this improvement carried out.”

The diversion routes available will be Station Road, Eagle Hall, Swinderby Road, Eagle, Thorpe Lane, Eagle Lane, Station Road, Lincoln Lane, Middle Lane, Hykeham Roundabout, A46, Halfway House Roundabout, Halfway House Lane, Moor Lane, Station Road and vice versa.

Working times are set to take place Monday to Friday from 07.30am to 4pm. There are no works planned for the weekend.
