Leadenham Church of England Primary celebrates Certificate of Excellence from The Pearson National Teaching Awards
Pupils and staff at Leadenham Church of England Primary Academy and Little Acorns Preschool are celebrating after the village school’s Early Years Team was recognised with a Certificate of Excellence from the National Pearson Teaching Awards.
The Early Years Team was nominated in recognition of the difference they make to the learning experiences of the very youngest children at Leadenham C of E Primary. With some children joining the preschool at age two, the staff have a vital role to play in opening up the wonders of learning for the children and helping them to develop the foundation skills they need for primary school and beyond.
For example, in the school’s most recent Ofsted report in May 2022, inspectors noted that: “Children in the Nursery and Reception Years experience a curriculum that is carefully thought out. Well-established routines support children’s personal, social and emotional development. Relationships between children and staff are positive. Children are well prepared for key stage 1.”
Matthew Nicholson, headteacher at Leadenham C of E Primary Academy, a member of Infinity Academies Trust, said: “We are incredibly proud of the work that our Early Years Team do for our children. They always go above and beyond to provide a happy, warm, caring and exciting learning environment, where children can experience adventures and outdoor play opportunities that are child-led and engaging.
“We also place a particular emphasis on the importance of nurturing each child as an individual and building positive relationships and partnerships with parents and carers.”
The primary school joined hundreds of other schools, colleges and early years settings across the country to celebrate their achievements on National Thank A Teacher Day (June 21), an annual event celebrating the role of educators across the UK for the valued role they play in communities and shaping young people.
