1st Flintham Cub Scout group celebrate 50th anniversary with celebration at Flintham Village Hall
A scouting group is celebrating 50 years of helping young people to grow and thrive.
The 1st Flintham Cub Scout group was formed in 1975, and to mark the occasion a special celebration was held at Flintham Village Hall.
Current and former scouts, volunteers, and their families were invited and there was an opportunity to take a trip down memory day with displays of photos and archive material from over the years.
Children took part in activities, including a quiz and axe throwing, while adults enjoyed a glass or two of prosecco to celebrate.
Section team leader, Becky Lambert, said: “1975 saw the beginning of 1st Flintham Cub Scout group, so we were excited this year to celebrate 50 years.
“1st Flintham invited past leaders, members, helpers, families and local communities who have played a part in our Scouting story, to come and celebrate with us.
“We displayed hundreds of photographs, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, uniforms and handbooks for everyone to have a look at, and take a trip down memory lane.
“A good time was had by all. Here's to the next 50 years.”
Awards were also given out to Niall Spencer for 25 years of service, to group lead volunteer Tracey Davies for merit, and both Aaron Lambert and Becky Lambert received Commendations for Good Service.
1st Flintham is now a thriving hub for young people, with Beaver Scouts, for six to eight-year-olds, Cub Scouts for eight to ten and a half-year-olds, and Scouts for age 10 and a half to 14-year-olds.
The group meets weekly on Monday for Beavers, Tuesdays for Cubs, and Wednesdays for Scouts, at the Scout hub adjacent to Flintham Village Hall.
