Scouting volunteers sought
Youngsters wanting to join the Scouting movement in Bingham face up to a two-year wait because there aren’t enough adult volunteers.
Scouting is seeing its biggest surge in numbers since 1972 but without the adult support, children are being turned away.
The Scout group leader, Mr John Green, said the Andromeda Cub pack had already been forced to close.
“Fortunately, we were able to split the children up and put them into the other two packs, which is another reason why we have no more space for new children,” he said.

A Beaver colony was also at risk but has since been saved when two adults stepped forward to help.
Mr Green said: “There are many children on the Beaver colony waiting list who could be forced to wait up to two years before getting in and by then the children would be past Beaver age."
The Explorer Scouts, open to those aged 14-18, is closed to new joiners and will only take those coming from the Scouts.
Mr Green said: “In a perfect world, I could open up a new group for every age range —Cubs, Beavers, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. We want to keep growing and can’t."
