Man seriously injured after lorries crash on A1 Northbound at Newark's OK Diner

By Connor Thompson

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on the A1 northbound.

Two lorries were involved in the crash, according to travel website Inrix.

The incident happened at 4.14pm, just north of Newark, near the restaurant OK Diner.

The A1 was closed in both directions between the North Muskham and Cromwell junctions, however, one lane heading northbound has since reopened.

Southbound remains closed.

All three emergency services — Nottinghamshire police, ambulance service and fire and rescue service — are at the scene.

Newark Police said: "We will reopen the road as soon as it is safe to do so and once the emergency services have finished their work.

"Please avoid the area if possible.

"We are now awaiting recovery for the vehicle."

Traffic is currently moving.
