Reader’s letter: Shame on the Newark five
The five councillors who voted against the dualling of the Newark A46 bypass should hang their heads in shame.
They should add sabotage and neglect to their CVs.
I was under the impression that councillors are there to represent the people who elected them — obviously the Newark Five think differently.
Rather than pursuing their self-indulgent ideological woke agenda maybe they need to reflect on why they are there and who put them there.
If they are not prepared to support the people of Newark then move aside and let someone else do the job who will.
Apparently, one reason was it would add to the pollution. What nonsense — what about the pollution in the town with the gridlocked traffic?
Do any of them drive ? Probably not.
Robert Jenrick MP has put in a vast amount of hard work in securing the funding over the last ten years, only to be sabotaged by these self-indulgent anti-Newark councillors at the last moment — maybe this was the plan all along.
I can only assume that as Robert is a Conservative and the Newark Five are Labour and Independent that they have brought politics into this rather doing the right thing.
The Newark Five, shame on you, — M. CARTER, via email.
