Sherwood MP Michelle Welsh assures constituency she is ‘here to help’
As I settle into my new role as your Member of Parliament for Sherwood Forest, I want to take a moment to reflect on the past few months and share my thoughts on the exciting work ahead, writes new MP Michelle Welsh.
It has been an incredible journey since being elected in July, and I am deeply honoured to represent every single individual in our diverse constituency which is full of so many passionate people.
One of my top priorities is to be accessible to you, the residents of Sherwood Forest. I believe that the best way to serve our community is by listening to your concerns, ideas, and aspirations.
Over the past few weeks, I have held surgeries in various locations across the constituency, and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many of you. Whether we discussed local issues, national policies, or simply shared a cup of tea, these conversations have been invaluable in shaping my understanding of what matters most to you.
While I am still in the process of getting our constituency offices fully set up, I want to assure you that my team and I are here to help.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any issues or if there’s something you’d like to discuss. Your input is crucial as I work to represent Sherwood Forest effectively in Parliament. You can email me at michelle.welsh.mp@parliament.uk.
Looking ahead, I am eager to see progress on several key pieces of legislation that I believe will have a positive impact on our community and the country as a whole, such as The Great British Energy Bill.
This Bill aims to establish a new public body that will own and operate clean power projects across the UK.
The Victims, Courts, and Public Protection Bill is another important step forward. It will provide much-needed support for victims of crime and work to reduce delays in our court system, ensuring that justice is both swift and fair.
The Children’s Wellbeing Bill, something close to my heart, will include provision for free breakfast clubs in every primary school and help improve the wellbeing of our youngest.
Every child deserves a strong start to their day, and this initiative will make a real difference in their lives.
I am excited about the work ahead and committed to making Sherwood Forest a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Let’s continue to work together to build a brighter future for everyone in our community.
I look forward to hearing from you.
