A shire horse took pride of place in Newark Market Place.
The visit was to promote The National Shire Horse Show, which will be at the Newark Showground for the first time this weekend.
Brigadier and horseman Nicholas Carter, from Hook Norton Brewery, Oxfordshire, was welcomed by town mayor Lisa Geary and the public.
The two-day event will feature around 200 horses, with trade stands, classes, displays and entertainment on both days.
Matthew Burks, Shire Horse Society councillor and member of the show committee, said: “It’s coming back to the heartland really. It’s always been a strong area — Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire — for shires and we’re looking forward to the show.”
