Reader’s letter: Shout about our amazing town

I completely agree with Mr Campbell’s letter in last week’s Advertiser about visitors being key to Newark’s success.

When I first moved to Newark over 20 years ago, I was amazed that more was not being done to make the most of the amazing town centre with its many historic buildings and architecture.

Since then, we have had the opening of the National Civil War Centre but it hardly seems to be pulling in thousands of visitors. We have an amazing town and attractions around the district that are worthy of worldwide attention — no matter where I go in the world, everyone has heard of Sherwood Forest — and yet we are not shouting it from the rooftop.

Let’s spread the word far and wide of what Newark and Sherwood has to offer and then the visitors will come. — R. MILLER, via email.
