Show offers garden delights
Mrs Susan Helliwell, of Gretton Close, Claypole, was among visitors at the fifth annual Newark and Nottinghamshire Garden Show, at the weekend.
Several thousand people, from as far as Sheffield, Boston and Derbyshire, attended the three-day event, which started at Newark Showground on Friday.
Attractions included more than 200 trade stands, events for children, and demonstrations including how to grow Bonsai trees, and how to pot orchids.
The show is run by the Upson family, whose company, Aztec, stages similar shows across the country.
Mr Matthew Upson said, partly thanks to television shows such as Ground Force, gardening now had a much wider appeal across the age ranges.
He said in the past few years at Newark he had seen more younger people searching out bargains.
