Society raises £1,500
More than 200 people attended Southwell Choral Society’s garden party at Ashdene bed and breakfast, Halam, the home of Mr and Mrs David Herbert.
A total of £1,500 was raised at Saturday’s event, which included a tombola, games, children’s activities and stalls selling books, cakes, jewellery and plants.
There was also a salad lunch prepared by society members.
Organiser Mrs Jan Richardson of Westhorpe, Southwell, said they sold more than 100 lunches.
Music was by Mr Simon Freeman, of Station Road, Southwell, who played the keyboard and Dr Ian Smith, who travelled from Halifax to play the harmonica.
Mrs Richardson said: “We had fantastic support and the money raised will go towards recruiting an orchestra and solo artists to perform with us.”
The society’s next event is You’re Never Dressed Without A Smile at the leisure centre on June 21, at 7.30pm.
