The fire prompted the service to issue a warning on facebook reading: "With the days ahead only getting hotter and the ground getting dryer please be weary of any bonfires/BBQ’s you may have and correct disposal of cigarettes as these types of fire easily spread out of control."

The concern is that a cigarette end tossed into dry grass or a disposable barbecue left unattended can retain heat and easily set the surrounding landscape alight.

The post ended with the fire service encouraging people to enjoy the sun but be safe at the same time.
