To celebrate the final booklet celebrating a Newark area village’s heritage, a special event will be held this weekend.

On Saturday 12 April in Norwell Village Hall, from 3pm to 5pm, Norwell Parish Heritage Group is launching their 10th and final Heritage Booklet Norwell Natural Heritage.

The booklet will be launched by Professor Charles Watkins from Nottingham University, with a brief comment on the series by Dr Richard Gaunt representing the Thoroton Society.

The launch will be held on Saturday April 12 from 3pm to 5pm in Norwell Village Hall, and a display of materials produced and collected by the Heritage Group relating to the heritage of Norwell will be shown.

As this is the final booklet in the series so this event is also an opportunity to thank those who have supported the Heritage Group over the last 20 years.

Then on Friday April 25 at 7.30pm in St Laurence's church Norwell at 7.30pm, the duo ARKangel will be giving the premier of Lullaby of Harlem - the birth of the blues.

The show will take audiences on a journey of how the blues genre came to being, form its early days among the Gambian slave hub to the Caribbean, the plantations of Louisiana and then into a vibrant new life in Harlem and from there to the World Stage.

Tickets are £10, available on the door. To book, email emjones.norwell@btinternet.com or call 01636 636365.

Refreshments in the interval. Drinks for sale.
