Motorist who drove at 50mph on London Road, Newark, among latest cases from Nottingham Magistrates’ Court




A motorist who sped down London Road, Newark, at over 50mph is among the latest to be sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

Jonathon Roe, 49, of Nightingale Close, Balderton, appeared at the court for his sentencing on October 9, where he was disqualified from driving.

On December 23, 2023, he drove a BMW at 55mph on the B6326 London Road, near The Park, which has a 30mph limit.

He pleaded guilty to the offence on July 4.

Roe was fined £800, and ordered to pay costs of £370.

He was banned from the roads for 56 days, a reduced disqualification due to his responsibilities caring for family members.

Uninsured driver Valerie Audrey Jones, 76, of Valley Prospect, Newark, avoided disqualification when she was sentenced on October 8.

On December 31, 2023, Jones drove a Fiat on Eton Avenue, Newark, without insurance.

She pleaded guilty to the offence on June 28.

Jones had six points added to her licence, but avoided disqualification due to having difficulty walking.

She was also fined £186, and ordered to pay costs of £184.

Speeding driver James Henry Tunstall also avoided disqualification when he appeared in the court on October 8.

The Mini driver, 55, of Cow Lane, Swinderby, drove at 37mph on Newark Road, Wellow, which has a 30mph limit, on December 22, 2023.

He pleaded guilty to the offence on July 4.

Tunstall had three points added to his licence but avoided disqualification due to his caring responsibilities, living in a rural location, and impact on his employment.

He was fined £66, and ordered to pay costs of £136.

Charlotte Carlisle, 35, of Edgehill Drive, Newark, was sentenced on October 3 after pleading not guilty to speeding on April 5, but the case was proved in her absence.

Carlisle broke the 30mph limit on the A38 Kings Mill Road/Kirkby Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on September 16, 2023.

She was fined £60, ordered to pay costs of £109, and had three points added to her licence.

BMW driver Damien Migdalski, 39, of Carter Lodge Rise, Sheffield, appeared in court on October 9.

He drove the vehicle on Stodman Street, Newark, without insurance, on December 3, 2023 — and pleaded guilty to the offence on June 14.

Migdalski was fined £250, and ordered to pay costs of £210.

Six points were added to his licence.

Speeding driver Vijay Kumar Chadda, 57, of Rufford Road, Edwinstowe, also appeared in court on October 9.

He drove a Land Rover at 50mph on the A608 Mansfield Road, Nether Green, Eastwood, on January 21. The road has a 30mph limit.

Chadda pleaded guilty on July 4.

He was fined £371, ordered to pay costs of £258, and had five points added to his licence.

The sentencing of Gareth Dean Glaves, 32, of Turner Lane, Boughton, was held at the court on October 4.

He was, on September 3, found guilty of failing to provide police with information relating to the identification of the driver of a Ford, alleged to be guilty of an offence.

The incident occurred in Mansfield on February 21, and Glaves had previously pleaded not guilty on August 8.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £614, and was disqualified from driving for six months, with six points added to his license.

The disqualification was obligatory due to repeat offending.

Carole Percival, also known as Karen Percival, 50, of Beech Avenue, Newark, was fined £660 when she was sentenced on October 8.

Percival was found guilty of failing to give police information about the driver of a Toyota alleged to be guilty of an offence.

The offence took place in Arnold on January 24, and she had previously pleaded not guilty on August 2. The case was then proved in her absence.

Percival was also ordered to pay costs of £374, and had six points added to her licence.
